Hey tribe!
Today we're taking on a fresh perspective on something we all crave, pursue, and sometimes misplace - love. Together, we'll navigate the world of love languages and discover how "self-love" fits in. Spoiler alert: it's less about looking for the perfect partner and more about having a heart-to-heart with the person in the mirror.

You've probably heard about the five love languages. Love languages are how we express and understand love. The five love languages are words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch. Here's the billion-dollar question: have you ever considered showing your love language to yourself?
Before you start worrying about what it means to give yourself a gift (Does buying something from Amazon count? Is it a reason to buy another pair of shoes? Wait, do I have to wrap it myself for myself?), let's take a step back and break it down.

Words of Affirmation: We are so quick to cheer on our friends, to tell them they are wonderful, beautiful, strong, and capable. But when was the last time you complimented yourself? No, I don't mean a quick "I'm amazing" before starting your day. I mean really taking a moment to appreciate yourself, your achievements, and the growth you've made. Look in the mirror and compliment yourself like a cherished friend. Your words have power, especially when directed at you.
Acts of Service: Do something kind for yourself. It might be preparing something delicious to eat, booking a massage, or decluttering your space. Doing something for yourself isn't just about self-care; it's about showing yourself the same kindness and respect you'd give someone you love. Remember, small gestures often carry the most weight.
Receiving Gifts: Who said gifts are only for special occasions? Treat yourself to something special because you deserve it. It doesn't need to be over the top; the joy could be in a new book, flowers, or even your favorite snack. The point is to remind yourself that you're worth celebrating.

Quality Time: Have you ever taken yourself out on a date, dined solo, or watched a movie alone? It can be a truly liberating experience. Spending quality time with yourself is about enjoying your company and being comfortable in your skin and space.
Physical Touch: This is about reconnecting with your body and appreciating it. It could be through a relaxing bath, a yoga session, or even mindfully applying lotion. These acts of touch can help you feel grounded, present, and grateful for the body you're in.
Showing your love language to yourself might feel a bit crazy at first, like trying to tickle yourself. But don't give up too soon. You love yourself the way you deserve by showing yourself your love language. You're reinforcing the message that you deserve love and care, not just from others, but from yourself first and foremost.
Remember, you're your longest commitment, so make this relationship the best one!

Much love,
Tricia
